Course Description
Islamic Civilisation starts with the introduction of Islam into the world and continues to develop
for as long as Islam as a religion and civilization continues to exist. This course intends to cover
historical events starting with the pre-Islamic Arabia to the end of Abbasid caliphate. In short
the following will be high lighted.
Course Objectives

To ground the students in a deeper knowledge of the spread of Islam in the Arab world
and outside.

To enable the student appreciate the Islamic Culture in comparison with his own culture.

To help students interpret the origin of some cultures and discuss the various challenges
faced by Islam in situating these differences.
