type of rock created when water
evaporates and only the solid
substances that were dissolved
are left.
First, a mineral has to dissolve in a
body of water.
 Sometimes, the water is too full of
dissolved minerals and not all of them
will fit.
 The minerals that are not able to
remain dissolved solidify and form
crystals.
 These crystals are called chemical
sedimentary rocks.


Halite, Selenite, gypsum, calcite, rock
salt, and some types of limestone are
all chemical sedimentary rocks.

Calcite
Limestone is the most common type
of chemical sedimentary rock.
 Table salt comes from Halite, a
chemical sedimentary rock
 There are rare chemical sedimentary
rocks that form from precipitation of
calcium carbonite from seawater.
 Calcite has more different shapes than
any other chemical sedimentary rock







