Bingo definitions – Cardiac
Cardiac Output
The volume of blood ejected by the heart
per minute
Stroke Volume
The amount of blood ejected by the heart
per beat
Target zone
The range within an individual needs to
work for aerobic training to take place
(60-80% MHR)
Anticipatory rise
Pre-exercise response of the heart to the
release of adrenaline, resulting in an
elevated HR
Bradycardia
Reduction of resting heart rate to below
60bpm usually due to endurance training
Vascular Shunt
Redistribution of blood around the body
so the working muscles receive more
Cardiac Hypertrophy
Enlargement of the heart muscle in
response to training
Aerobic

and is steady, the heart can supply all the
oxygen muscles need
