Rod mounted 78150 Beam Splitter Holder
The 78150 Beam Splitter Mount holds a 2 inch (51 mm) square
beam splitter, up to 0.25 inch (6 mm) thick, at a 45° angle. Since
it can be coupled directly to Oriel light sources,
monochromators, and detectors via the 1.5 Inch Series flanges, it
is a convenient device for splitting a beam in an enclosed optical
system. The 78150 has two lens holders for 1.5 inch (38 mm)
diameter lenses.

Mounting
(38)
You can mount the 78150 directly to other Oriel instruments via
the 1.5 Inch Series flanges. This allows rotation of the 78150, so
the split off beam can be directed anywhere in a circle
perpendicular to the through beam. Two 1/4-20 tapped holes
accept optical rods if you’d rather rod mount the device and vary
the optical axis height.

78100 Sample Compartment with cuvettes
The 78100 Sample Compartment holds 10 x 10 x 45 mm
cuvettes in an optical beam, for analysis. It has 1.5 inch series
flanges, for direct coupling to Oriel Monochromators and
Spectrographs (we also offer a sample holder for our
minispectrometers; see page 1325). The interior baffle design of
the 78100 Sample Compartment prevents light from reaching
the output without going through the cell, and the grooved lid
prevents ambient light from entering the compartment. The lid
comes off easily for quick insertion and removal of the sample.

Ordering Information
For fluorescence or light scattering applications, such as Raman,
you can increase the collected radiation by placing a spherical
reflector in the two ports opposite the input and signal ports.
This will reflect the light that would normally be lost, back into
the cell. The optional 78103 Spherical Reflector Assembly uses a
broadband, high reflectivity AlMgF2 coated mirror.

One of the convenient features of the 78100 is its internal filter
holder. This lets you use excitation or emission filters without the
need for an additional holder. The filter holder, mounted to the
inside of one of the ports, holds 2 inch (51 mm) circular filters, up
to 0.12 inches (3 mm) thick. For most applications you’ll want to
focus the incident light onto your sample, and often that light is
collimated. You may then want to recollimate the output beam, or
image a fluorescing region of the cell onto the input slit of your
spectrograph. The 78100 has two lens holders for 1.5 inch (38 mm)
diameter lenses. The clear aperture is 1.2 inches (30 mm). The
distance from the lens to the sample is 2 inches (51 mm). If longer
focal length lenses are desired, use spacer tubes (page 283).

ACCESSORIES
We offer many of these gratings mounted in pre-aligned holders
for use in Oriel Monochromators and Spectrographs; they are
listed on the individual instrument pages. (Note, in some cases
the full primary wavelength range is limited on the long
wavelength side by the instrument’s mechanical stop.)

SPECTROMETERS
These flat Ruled and Holographic Gratings are fabricated from
BK 7 glass substrates, coated with an AlMgF2 broadband
reflective coating. Fig. 1 shows efficiency curves for two of our
most popular UV gratings. Fig. 2 shows the reflectance of an
IR grating.
