Cataracts - Wild rapids formed by boulders and narrow cliffs, natural barrier that
protected Egypt in the south.
Hyksos - Western Asian people who conquered Egypt
Kemet - Egyptian name for Egypt, means ‘the Black Lands’
Memphis - Capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom
Ramses II - Greatest of the New Kingdom pharaohs
Savannas - Grasslands south of Egypt
Pharaoh - Believed to be the son of Re, the sun god
Pyramid - Entrance always faced north
Nile - World’s longest river
Hapi - Goddess who ruled the Nile River
