Mechanisms of Hormone Action

Hormones of same chemical class have similar
mechanisms of action.

Location of cellular receptor proteins.

Target cell must have specific receptors for that
hormone (specificity).

Hormones bind to receptors with high bond strength
(affinity).

Low capacity of receptors (saturation).
