Details: Title: Location: Remuneration: Ireland Corporate Credit Intern 77 Grosvenor Street, London, W1K 3JR or 33 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, Ireland Paid internship The Ireland Corporate Credit Department: The BlueBay Ireland corporate credit (BICC) team, which sits within the broader global leveraged finance department, currently has 3 members of staff, one of whom is based in BlueBay’s London office and the other two in Dublin. Launched in July 2013, the strategy aims to deliver a flexible approach to debt financing solutions providing senior, unitranche and subordinated loans to the SME sector in Ireland. This is in response to the financing gap created by the retrenchment and deleveraging of traditional bank lenders, who have been reducing their corporate loan books (in particular loans to small and mediumsized enterprises) in response to stricter capital and liquidity regulation as well as legacy issues following the financial crisis. Members of the BICC team take full responsibility for the origination and execution of transactions and the ongoing portfolio monitoring of the investments thereafter. The Intern role will be to assist the team with all areas of the investment process, which will include a diverse set of responsibilities, including the due diligence on prospective investments (from management meetings and site visits to modelling and the preparation of internal memoranda), the participation in the execution of transactions (interacting with internal BlueBay committees and external legal counsel on documentation) and the ongoing monitoring of the Fund’s investments (including ongoing meetings with the respective Management teams and financial sponsors). Programme Structure: The BICC internship programme will be 6 months’ long (commencing as soon as possible), with the possibility of extending to 12 months. The successful BICC intern will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the department as a whole and be involved in day-to-day projects and tasks such as due diligence, financial modelling, research and portfolio monitoring as well as observe and learn from BlueBay employees on more sensitive tasks. In addition to on-the-job training and support, interns are invited to attend a one-day Introduction to Asset Management course, comprising an interactive session in the morning with an external training provider, followed by lunch with the CEO and Head of HR, and then afternoon presentations from Partners or Department Heads from across the business. Londonbased interns also attend tailored Make the Most of Your Internship at BlueBay sessions throughout their programme, to enhance and develop both their professional and personal skills whilst deepening their understanding of BlueBay. During the internship, structured and detailed performance feedback will be provided to interns. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Assisting with due diligence, credit writing and execution of investment opportunities. Analysing financial statements and covenant compliance reporting. Preparing financial models. Research and general industry analysis including investment drivers and risks and making recommendations for BICC. Interact with and instruct third party due diligence advisers, lawyers and accountants. Ongoing monitoring of portfolio companies. Personal Skills and Experience: Degree educated with at least a 2:1 achieved at year 2 and expected or achieved 2:1 final grade. Final-year university students, or recent graduates. Excellent overall academic profile. Excellent communication skills and a strong capacity and desire to use initiative. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player. Ability to provide examples of a pro-active approach to personal development. Ability to demonstrate commercial thinking alongside a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude to all aspects of work. Good proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Strong analytical capability, both quantitative and qualitative. Ability to analyse key risks / drivers and form a view on investment attractiveness.
