The West Virginia Association of
Professional Soil Scientists
(WVAPSS) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to foster the profession of
soil science and to promote the use of
sound soil science in the utilization of
our land resources.
The objective of the Association is to
advance the profession of soil
science in the state of West Virginia.
This includes the following:







Promote the wise utilization of
soils as a natural resource.
Protect public welfare by
encouraging legislation to
establish state registration of soil
scientists.
Advance the professional interests
of the professional soil scientist.
Advance the professional interests
of the soil scientist through
training.
Promote high standards of
education in soil science.
Enhance public knowledge and
appreciation of soil science.
Establish high standards of ethical
conduct in all professional
matters.
The need for a directory of consulting
soil scientists in West Virginia has
resulted in the following directory of
WVAPSS members who offer these
services.

What Can a Professional Soil Scientist Do
For You?
A Professional Soil Scientist is trained to observe
and identify soil properties that can be used to
determine such things as depth to seasonal high
water table, soil permeability, potential productivity
and other potentially use-limiting soil features.
They can provide information for specific sites.
The following WVAPSS members provide
