Digital twin technology
Industrial IoT applications need to model, analyze, and

managing digital twins make it easier than ever before.
Digital twins are digital models of physical assets and
operations, building the bridge from the physical to the
digital worlds, providing understanding of each unique
asset over time. They combine data from sensors and
devices with analytics, models, and material science

components and assets, and even entire processes

Today’s industries must be data-driven. Predix
supports a comprehensive approach to uncovering the
relationships in your industrial data by using descriptive
analytics (what happened and why), predictive analytics
(what might happen next), and prescriptive analytics (how
to improve decision-making).
Industrial operations take place all over the world in
some of the most challenging and remote environments.
A platform must have end-to-end visibility and control,
plus operate at the source of data— connecting to
a variety of assets and devices. Security and timing
requirements mean data and analytics may need to be
delivered right away, without connecting to a distant
network. As part of the Predix platform, the Predix System
includes GE’s unique edge technology that provides an
edge-to-cloud application environment running on Predixready devices. With Predix System, Predix applications
can be deployed in a distributed manner to a connected
asset, controller, gateway, or other edge device—all with a
consistent deployment model, device management, and
security architecture.

Scalable framework for data
ingestion and management
Data in the industrial world is growing faster than
any other sector, and yet less than 3% of that data is
tagged and used in a meaningful way. Industrial data is
also messy and moving fast —arriving as multi-terabyte
streams in different formats and from multiple sources
such as equipment sensors, assets, and control systems.
Yet, once the data is captured, it can be fragmented and
siloed, making it difficult to analyze and reuse. Predix
provides real-time access to industrial data by using
machine intelligence to automate the data ingestion and
mapping process. By automating data mapping, Predix
can generate operational insights rapidly, providing a
contextual view of your data in days instead of months.
