The Earth’s Interior
Introduction
 For much of our history, we have been ignorant of the inside of the
interior on which we live.
 Only is recent years have we been able to develop an image of the
interior of the earth.
 Today, it is known that the earth’s interior is so hot that it should
be in liquid state.
 However, the pressures of overlaying materials make much of it
behave as though it were solid.
 If the pressures were released, this material would quickly turn into
liquid or gaseous states.

Task
1. Use Paint to draw a cross-section of the Earth and identify the inner
core, outer core, inner mantle, outer mantle, asthenosphere,
lithosphere, mesosphere, crust. Label and add colour to your diagram.
Copy and paste your finished cross-section into this document. ( 10
mark)
2. Complete the organizer comparing the different layers of the Earth.
