Lumalive Evaluation Kit Purpose: This Lumalive Evaluation Kit is intended for use by product designers and developers to experience the light effects and explore the possibilities of integrating Lumalive into products. What is in the box: www.lumalive.com Incorporation of Lumalive into fabric items Sample fabrics are included in this Evaluation Kit to illustrate how the Lumalive display panel should be incorporated into a layered fabric item. A product designer aiming to do so should take several factors into account in the choice of fabrics that are applied on top of and below the display panel. The most important design factors are discussed below. In order to achieve a better optical effect, and more closely blended pixels, a fabric with appreciable optical diffusion properties can be put on top of the display; Optical diffusion is the spreading out of light by a material. The amount of diffusion depends on the density, the structure and the thickness of the material. The amount of light coming from the display pane underneath a number of fabric layers will depend on the optical transmission of the fabrics. The transmission of a material depends on its density, structure and thickness. Unfortunately, the optical transmission of a material is inversely proportional to its optical diffusion. In other words, the more diffusion, the less transmission and vice versa. In practice, an optimum design needs to be found that balances these two material properties. The perceived clarity of text or animations displayed on the Lumalive display panel depends amongst others on the optical brightness contrast. In general, a higher contrast will be achieved when the display panel is operated in a dark environment, where the amount of reflected light is low. The contrast between adjacent pixels on the display panel also depends on the amount of diffusion applied by the fabrics on top: the more diffusion, the lower the contrast between adjacent pixels. To achieve good contrast, the amount of diffusion and transmission therefore has to be chosen in accordance with typical ambient light conditions for intended usage scenarios of the product. www.lumalive.com Technical data Quantity Display panel Mechanical dimensions Pixel count Pixel-to-pixel distance Panel shape Weight Cable length between display panel and control unit Power consumption: display blank/no content (including control unit) Refresh rate Typical luminance (averaged over one pixel cell) Luminous intensity uniformity per color over whole display panel LED wavelengths Color depth 235x285x6 mm 196 15 mm 14x14 square array 100g 30 cm To be determined 90 Hz 300 cd/m2 ± 20% 420, 550, 670 nm 16.8M Maximum twist along x and y direction ±15° Maximum applied force when pressing on panel with small object 40N Operating temperature range -25°C to 60°C Operating relative humidity range 10% to 93% Storage temperature range Storage relative humidity range -40°C to 70°C 10% to 85% UV stability UV protection Water repellency Cleaning Flame retardant properties IPX3 Sleeve washing-machine proof According clothing norm Control unit Battery type Battery playtime (typical use) *) Battery charging time Maximum playtime of non-repeating content (at 14x14, 20 Hz) Maximum frame rate Li-ion,1750 mAh, 7.4V 3.25h 3h 8 min 20s 40Hz Power adapter Input voltage Output voltage 100V-240V AC, 50-60Hz 15V DC 1 Nominal value Important The information contained in this document is subject to change without notice.
