The T Minus Three Countdown Process
At T Minus Three we have developed a customized launch countdown checklist that we have
based on years of experience in product management, product development, product marketing
and digital marketing.
The ten step process helps crystallize the goals, approaches, and strategy to attract and apply
limited resources to lead to success. The process can be broken down into four key phases:
1) The Opportunity Phase – in this strategy phase it is critical that we chart and
test the market, the product, the intellectual property and identify the resources needed to
get through the next phase. This is where we help understand the customer, the product and
the market and we chart our future trajectory and our messages to the market. This is our
business plan, our marketing plan, our grant funding requests, our staffing plans, and our
target first customer.
2) The Design / Delivery Phase – this is where we begin to execute. We get the
product prototype done and done right. We test it. We use it. We tear it down and rebuild
it again. But at the same time we design and test our messaging to the market. We build a
brand, or two or three. We test and then retest. And most importantly we begin the search
for that elusive first customer.
3) Preparing the Launch Phase – this is where we begin to build not just the product, but the
pathways to the market. Digital pathways - websites, collateral, and the launch plan details. We also begin to
build channels to market – online, bricks and mortar, and partners. But most importantly, that first customer
is needed to test the product and test our messages to the market.
4) The Final Countdown – this is where we check and recheck the countdown list. We have the
product, we have the channels, we have the lead customer, we have the collateral and the brand, and the list
goes on. And at T Minus Three we ignite the engines. Sales training, social media, traditional media, gorilla
marketing, event marketing, awards marketing, email marketing are all fired up for lift off.
