discussions as a hook to reach out to a wider stakeholder group. Members can make use of these prepared messages
on their Twitter and Facebook accounts or within relevant LinkedIn groups.

For attendees of the launch:

Heart failure is a surprisingly common condition, with 1 in 5 people at risk of developing heart failure in their
lifetime, and 15 million people currently living with the condition in Europe. Many cases of heart failure
could be prevented with the adoption of a healthier lifestyle, but awareness is low. The Heart Failure Policy
Toolkit is an innovative resource, which distils the latest evidence and helps policymakers identify the
necessary policy changes in heart failure across Europe. I will be joining the Heart Failure Policy Network on
29 Sept in European Parliament to launch the toolkit & call to action
http://agenda.euractiv.com/events/bringing-heart-failure-mainstream-health-policy-131127
Specifically for HFPN members:

Heart Failure is a ‘forgotten condition’ within chronic disease. I am a member of the Heart Failure Policy
Network (HFPN) and we are calling on the EU Member States to commit to improving the lives of people
living with heart failure across Europe by focusing on 10 policy priorities. Join us at the European Parliament
on the 29th September for the launch of the HFPN toolkit and call to action.

For attendees of the launch:

Today at the European Parliament, the Heart Failure Policy Network is launching a toolkit to raise awareness
and help policymakers identify the necessary changes in HF across Europe. The toolkit focuses on 10 key
actions including investment in tools and resources in primary care, timely diagnosis, appropriate prevention
measures and person-centred care. Check out the heart failure toolkit at http://bit.ly/1K16DFM
Specifically for HFPN members:

The burden of heart failure in Europe is significant, with over 15 million adults living with the condition in
Europe. The Heart Failure Policy Network is holding an event today (11.00 – 13.00) in the European
Parliament. The event will launch a policy toolkit on heart failure and call upon national governments to
commit to improving the lives of people living with heart failure across Europe. Attend the event and join
the discussion. #HeartFailurePolicyNetwork

Today – On World Heart Day - I will be discussing policy challenges and opportunities for #heartfailure
patients across Europe at the European Parliament in Brussels. Heart failure is a serious chronic condition
where the heart cannot pump enough blood to support the needs of other organs in the body. Up-to-date
clinical guidelines exist for the management of HF, but adherence is poor and treatment varies enormously
between settings. Changes at the policy level can help save lives and make more efficient use of #healthcare
resources. http://bit.ly/1K16DFM
