Review of 10 major human body systems using a puzzle technique Systems Shuffle By: Heidi Hisrich of The Dork Side Teaching students about the different human body systems is one of my favorite things to do! But after I teach it, they always need some interactive ways to review. This activity should be done by students to review/summarize what they learned. There are MANY fun ways to teach the information! I particularly like to break the class into teams of 3-4 students and assign each team a different system. They then research that system and become experts, teaching the rest of the class about their system. As part of that project they can sketch the system on a full-scale outline of a person or even build the system 3 dimensionally. As the students listen to the presentations of one another, they can do this activity to summarize what they are learning. Alternately, they can do it for homework to show that they understood the systems. Here’s what to do: 1. Provide the students with the puzzle pieces 2. Tell them what to do with the pieces. Options are: a. Just color code each set of 3 that goes together and don’t cut anything out b. Cut them out and glue them onto the table provided, matching each system’s name to the organs and job of the system c. Cut them out and glue them into a journal/notebook. We notebook lots so I like this option I have provided a key to the activity on page 5. Obviously the kids can put the systems in any order, as long as they match the system name to the organs and job. I’ve also included a picture of the activity completed in a student’s journal (below). It fits nicely on a single page of a composition book. Like this activity?
