Esophagus
• The part where the throat is
connected to the stomach.
Stomach
• The organ where the first part
of digestion occurs.
Small Intestine
• The part of the intestine that
runs through the stomach and
large intestine.
Large Intestine
• The colon or the cecum.
Liver
• A large organ involved in
processing food.
Appendix
• A tube-shaped sac attached to
the lower end of large intestine.
Pancreas
• A large gland that is located
behind the stomach.
Enzymes
• A substance produced by a
living organism.
Gall Bladder
• A small sac-shaped organ
located beneath the liver.
Bile/Bile Duct
• Bile Duct:The duct that conveys
bile.
• Bile:A greenish-brown fluid.
Mucus
• A slimy substance.
Chemical Digestion
• Digestion of Mechanical and
Chemical breaking down into
smaller bits.
Absorption
• The process by which neutrons

that breaks starch
down into sugar.

human saliva.

• A projection of the lining of the
small intestine.
Gastric Juices
• A thin, colorless, fluid secreted
by the stomach glands.
Duodenum
• The first part of the small
intestine.
Chyme
• The pulpy acidic fluid that
passes from the stomach to the
small intestine.
