INVASIVE SPECIES SNC1D-Watts What is the impact of humans on our environment? Human actions have had huge impacts on our ecosystems. These impacts and actions, have in some cases, led to the endangerment and the extinction of species. In other cases these actions have introduced non-native species to our ecosystems causing detrimental effects. Learning Goals: I am describing the impact of one type of invasive species of an ecosystem I am using scientific terminology about ecosystems I am finding information (some from class and some new research) to create a new product (GLOGSTER). Success Criteria: Answer the following questions: 1. eWhat is the migration of the species (from which ecosystem [where it is supposed to be] to ecosystem [to where it is now as an invasive species] and how)? How did it get there? 2. eWhat is the path of its habitat from one ecosystem to another? Where has it invaded? 3. eHow has the equilibrium of the ecosystem been set off balance or damaged? 4. eHow has the food chain been altered? 5. eHow does it affect the population of other organisms around it? 6. eHow does it fit into the predator/prey relationship (what does it eat AND/OR what eats it)? 7. eWhat has been the impact on humans? AND/OR How are humans trying to help with the problem? INVASIVE SPECIES SNC1D-Watts For the GLOG, include some of the following things: oUse different forms of media (pictures, map, graphs, video, sounds) oConnect text explanations to give meaning to the media used oWell organized (title, headings, use of space) oProper spelling and grammar oBackground fits the theme along with other media Invasive Species 1: Common Carp 2: Asian Carp 3: Goby 4: Ruffe 5: Sea Lamprey 6: White Perch 7: Zebra Mussel 8: Flowering Rush 9: Purple Loosestrife 10: Rusty Crayfish 11: Asian long-horned beetle 12: Ash bark beetle 13: Asian gypsy moth 14: Emerald Ash borer 15: European green crab 16: Sirex wood wasp 17: Mitten Crab 18: Nun Moth 19: Jointed goat grass 20: Wolly Cup grass 21: Kudzu
