Investment Aim
The Multi-Manager concept targets consistent performance relative to the peer group while also aiming for
lower levels of relative risk. The fund aims to add moderate return increments against the benchmark, the
FTSE World Europe ex-UK Index, building over time into significant value-added. In Continental Europe,
Russell’s analysts have found that two of the key drivers are stock selection and sector selection allocation
relative to the benchmark. In order to focus on these two areas, other factors such as country weight and
market capitalisation size are controlled at a portfolio level by the careful combination of specialist
managers.
Who should invest in the Fund?
This fund is available as part of Eagle Star’s Matrix range for institutional clients. This fund is an ideal choice
for investors who seek exposure to European equity markets, managed by a selection of international fund
managers.

Multi-Style - different managers manage money in different ways. These different approaches are
sometimes referred to as “styles”. Style diversification is important because different styles produce
significantly different returns in different market environments. As it is difficult to identify which style will be
in favour next month or next year, diversification across multiple styles reduces risk and provides exposure
to the style that is currently in favour regardless of the market environment, thereby providing more
consistent performance.
Multi-Manager - In a multi-manager structure specialist managers are able to concentrate on their area of
strength and provide added value. By constructing a fund using specialist managers in a risk controlled,
complementary way, Russell is able to produce more consistent out-performance of the given index. These
layers of diversification have proven to reduce the risk of under-performance and thus provide stability to
investors.
