withHP,InternationalPaper,Kimberly-Clark,McDonald’s,Procter&Gamble,Williams-Sonomaandthe
WorldWildlifeFund.
Thisfull-timeposition,basedatourMinneapolisheadquarters,willleadFSC’smarketingandbusiness
developmentactivitiesintheUnitedStates.
ORGANIZATIONSUMMARY
In1994,aninternationalgroupofleadersinbusiness,humanrights,andtheenvironmentcametogether
withavisionofharnessingthepowerofthemarketplacetorewardthestewardshipofforests,oneofthe
world’smostvitalandthreatenedecosystems.TogethertheyformedtheForestStewardshipCouncil
(FSC),settingstandardsforresponsibleforestmanagementanddevelopingacertificationsystemsothat
consumersofforestproductscoulddirectlycontributetothehealthofforestsandforestcommunities.
FSCUSisthelargestnationalofficeoftheForestStewardshipCouncil,thegloballeaderinforestproduct
certification.FSCisexperiencingextraordinarygrowthindemandintheUSandnowrepresentsfrom5to
35%marketshareacrosstherangeofforestproducts.FSCcompetesindiversemarkets,suchasbuilding
materials,furniture,paper,packaging,energyandeventextiles.FSC-certifiedproductsarewidely
availableatallmajornationalretailers.Currentlyover169millionacresofNorthAmericanforestlandare
FSCcertified(485millionacresglobally).Nearly5,000NorthAmericancompaniesarecertifiedunder

POSITIONDESCRIPTION
ReportingtothePresident,theChiefMarketingOfficerwillleadFSC’smarketingandbusiness
developmenteffortsintheUnitedStates.ThispositionispivotaltothesuccessofFSCUS,ass/hewill
directallmarketingeffortsincludingstrategicplanning,brandpositioning,initiativeexecution,market
intelligenceandanalysis,andkeyaccountsmanagement.TheChiefMarketingOfficerwillbeassistedin
theireffortsbythePresidentandtheDirectorofCommunications,aswellasstafffromFSCInternational’s
GlobalDevelopmentdivisionandourGlobalNetwork.
Theidealcandidatehasanentrepreneurialspiritandthepassiontohelpbuildthecapacityandreachof
thisvitalinternationalorganization.ThesuccessofFSCUSiscriticaltoitsabilitytoleveragethemarketing
capacitiesofitspartnerorganizations,someofwhichareamongthebest-knownandmostrespected
businessesandnonprofitorganizationsintheworld.
