"Junie B. Jones deliciously combines polished professionalism with a sweet innocence, and the result
can be spellbinding for both children and those old enough to be called adults. The gifted and very
versatile cast of six infectiously captures the wacky charming wisdom that is kids." — NY1 News
Everett, Wash. — Young readers go nuts for the award-winning Junie B. Jones book series by the
prolific Barbara Park, which follows the adventures of a precocious kindergarten graduate. Not to
disappoint fans, Village Theatre Pied Piper is proud to welcome the return of the TheatreworksUSA
touring musical Junie B. Jones in an expanded version that includes new music. Outspoken lovable
Junie B. Jones stars in this colorful, funny, fast-paced musical about new friends, new glasses, sugar
cookies, the annual kickball tournament, and other various first-grade angst-ridden situations.
Audiences of all ages can join in on the fun as Junie B. writes down the story of her life in her “TopSecret Personal Beeswax Journal.”
Junie B. Jones the musical is based on four volumes in Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones series of
books, illustrated by Denise Brunkus and published by Random House: Junie B., First Grader (at
Last!); Junie B., Boss of Lunch; Junie B., One-Man Band; and Top-Secret Personal Beeswax: A Journal
by Junie B. (and Me!).

The 60-minute production is directed by Peter Flynn (performer in Broadway’s The Scarlet
Pimpernel) with choreography by Devanand Janki (Off-Broadway: Zanna Don’t, Cupid & Psyche),
scenic design by Luke Hegel-Cantarella (TheatreworksUSA’s Corduroy), and costumes by Lora
LaVon.
Following a brief New York City-area tour in spring 2004, Junie B. Jones premiered OffBroadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in July 2004, and is now one of TheatreworksUSA’s most
popular productions. Junie B. Jones began its national tour in fall 2004, and a second national
touring company began touring in spring 2005.
TheatreworksUSA has a distinguished history of not only providing young audiences with their
first taste of the performing arts, but also giving young actors, writers, directors, and designers an early
opportunity to work in this field. A list of TheatreworksUSA alumni reads like a veritable "who's who" of
theatre: four-time Tony-winning director Jerry Zaks, Robert Jess Roth (Beauty and the Beast), Michael
Mayer (Thoroughly Modern Millie); writers Marta Kauffman and David Crane (TV's "Friends"), Lynn
Ahrens and Steven Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island), Jason Robert Brown (Parade), Larry
O'Keefe (Bat Boy), Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx (Avenue Q); and Tony-winning actors Roger Bart, Chuck
Cooper, and John Glover. Esteemed performers F. Murray Abraham, Henry Winkler, and Judy Kuhn also
got their start with TheatreworksUSA, and other actors have gone on to originate lead roles in such
Broadway shows as Avenue Q, Hairspray, The Producers, Rent, Wicked, Wonderful Town, and many
others.
In addition to the public performances of Junie B. Jones, educational school matinee
performances of Junie B. Jones will also take place at Everett Civic Auditorium (March 26, 2007 at 10:00
AM and noon) and McIntyre Hall (March 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM and noon). School performances are $8
and may be arranged by calling Village Theatre’s Youth Education office at (425) 257-6343.
