3} Scrotum – external skin sac that protect the testes
4} Penis – tube-shaped organ that extends from the trunk of the body just above
the testes
5} Semen – thick fluid containing sperm and other secretions from the male
reproductive system
6} Epididymis – the tubes in each testis join the epididymis, a larger coiled tube
where sperm mature and are stored.
7} Vas Deferens – tubes that extend from each epididymis to the urethra.
8} Seminal Vesicle – as sperm move through the vas deferens, they are
combined with a nourishing fluid produced by the seminal vesicles
9} Prostate Gland – secretions from the prostate gland combine with the spermcontaining fluid to form semen
10}Urethra – passageway through which both semen and urine leave the male
body
B. Care of the male reproductive system
1} Get regular checkups
2} Bathe regularly
3} Wear protective equipment
4} Perform regular self-examinations
5} Practice abstinence
C. Problems of the male reproductive system
1} Inguinal Hernia
2} Sterility
3} Testicular cancer
4} Problems of the prostate
2. Female Reproductive System
A. Structure and Function
1} Ovaries – female sex glands that store the ova and produce female sex
hormones
2} Ovulation – process of releasing a mature ovum into the fallopian tube each
month
3} Fallopian Tubes – pair of tubes with fingerlike projections that draw in the
ovum

5} Cervix – opening of the uterus
6} Vagina – muscular, elastic passageway that extends from the uterus to the
outside of the body
7} Clitoris- is a highly sensitive part of the female body. Its function is to
provide sexual pleasure.
8} Vulva- Keeps foreign materials out of the vagina.
9} Anus- Opening for the rectum. Is not part of the vulva, opening for the colon
10} Urethra- allows urine to exit the body
B. Care of the female reproductive system
1} Get regular checkups
2} Bathe regularly
3} Practice abstinence from sexual activity to avoid STDs
4} Give yourself breast self-exams
C. Problems of the female reproductive system
1} Menstrual cramps
2} Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
