Diana Kolaszewski Independent Project Information Topic of my independent Project: The Inca Culture Target Group: 9th grade students, 12 boys and 8 girls, 1 boy with ADHD needing special accommodations Goal: To introduce the culture/everyday life of the Inca Citizens Objectives:-be able to identify everyday activities of the Inca Empire by using a Venn diagram -describe geographical position of the Inca Empire by examining a map Standards: 8.4.9.A: Compare the role groups and individuals played in the social, political, cultural, and economic development throughout world history. 8.4.9.B: Contrast the importance of historical documents, artifacts, and sites which are critical to world history. 8.4.9.C: Analyze how continuity and change have impacted world history. Belief systems and religions Commerce and industry Technology Politics and government Physical and human geography Social organization 8.4.9.D: Analyze how conflict and cooperation among groups and organizations have influenced the history and development of the world Developmental Activities: -students will break into groups and discuss in what ways the Incas are similar/different to our culture today. Assessment: -Students will construct a daily schedule of an average Inca citizen based on the information they learned -students will read a legend about a Llama and construct a Llama out of paper Closure: -Quick reviews of the lesson by having the teacher question the students about the recently learned information -Students will be given time to ask questions and reflect on the Inca culture.
