Some verbs in the preterite have
an irregular stem…this means you have
to memorize them

All irregular stem verbs in the
preterit use the following endings:

These are irregular in the preterite, so

Me, you, he, she, it, us, y’all and them are
the D.O.P.s in English.

Here is how you use them:

 Direct Object Pronouns can always be
placed before the conjugated verb (#1)
in a sentence.
example:
Nosotros comemos tamales.
Nosotros los comemos.
(We eat them)

If there is a conjugated verb and infinitive
or a conjugated verb and a participle,
attach the pronoun to the participle or
infinitive (#2)
example:
Nosotros vamos a comer tamales.
Nosotros los vamos a comer. (#1)
Nosotros vamos a comerlos. (#2)
(We are going to eat them.)
