Graded on:
1. Effort – Did you put some time and effort into the assignment or
does it look like you took 2 minutes to complete it?
2. Creativity – Were you creative or does your poster look just like
everyone else’s? Try to be original.
3. Accuracy – Is the information you are presenting accurate?
4. Propaganda – Does your poster meet the definition of propaganda
as presented in class?
How To:
Step 1: What is propaganda?
 Information designed to influence opinion.
 Its goal is to get someone to take a side on an issue and do
something about it. (Illicit an active response)
Step 2: Choose a British Act or Event (i.e.: Quartering Act, Sugar
Act, Boston Tea Party, Boston Massacre) You may also choose a
protest group such as the Sons of Liberty, Daughters of Liberty,
Stamp Act Congress, Committees of Correspondence.
Step 3: Decide if you are going to be for (support) or against the
act.
Step 4: Decide what do you want your audience (the people
reading your poster in the 1700s) to do about it?
Step 5: Design a poster that communicates your decisions from
steps 2 – 4.
