AMA Higher Education Marketer of the Year
2016 Eligibility
Nominees must be currently employed at a higher education institution with focus
on the branding, marketing, and communications aspects of a college or
university. All nominees will be considered regardless of organization size and
budget. There will be two awards bestowed, one award recognizing an individual
thought leader and one award recognizing an outstanding marketing team. The
recipients of the 2016 AMA Higher Education Marketer of the Year Awards must
be available to receive the award in person on Tuesday, December 6 at the 2016
AMA Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education (held December 4 - 7,
2016) at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL.
2016 Nomination Process
Nominations are now open and will close on September 30, 2016. Please
visit https://amaf.wufoo.com/forms/higher-education-marketer-of-the-yearnomination/ to make your nomination.
All nominees will receive notification of their candidacy and will be required to
complete and submit a candidate profile form for further consideration that
provides additional information on the candidate’s experience in the following
categories:
Higher Education Marketer of the Year Award (Individual Honor)
Vision and leadership, such as:




How the candidate’s work has helped advance or transform the field of
higher education marketing
How the candidate’s work has helped transform their organization
Thought leadership in the form of speaking and writing on higher
education marketing
Recognition by peers in the field
Strategy, such as:




Breakthroughs and advances in organizing and planning in the context of
higher education organizations
Development of unique methodologies
Effective collaboration inside the organization, and with outside partners
Creative approaches to marketing problem solving and communications
Results, such as:

Employment of effective methods of measurement


Achievement of the organization’s goals, both immediate and over time
Innovative use of social media, technology or other emerging tools or
trends to advance higher education marketing practices
Higher Education Marketer of the Year Award (Team Honor)
Vision and leadership, such as:



How team’s work has helped advance or transform the field of higher
education marketing
How team’s collaborative process on campus and/or with outside partners
contributed to the final deliverables and achievement of organizational
objectives
Recognition by peers in the field
Strategy, such as:




Breakthroughs and advances in organizing and planning in the context of
higher education organizations
Development of unique methodologies
Effective collaboration inside the organization, and with outside partners
Creative approaches to marketing problem solving and communications
Results, such as:




Employment of effective methods of measurement
Achievement of the organization’s goals, both immediate and over time,
Innovative use of social media, technology or other emerging tools or
trends to advance higher education marketing practices
Development of marketing techniques with global impact that can be
modeled outside the source organization
2016 Entry Deadline
The nomination deadline for the AMA Higher Education Marketer of the Year
Awards (both Individual and Team honor) are September 30, 2016. Candidate
profile forms are due by October 21, 2016.

Judging Process
A panel consisting of a mix of marketing experts and practitioners will serve on
the selection committee. All judges will be leaders and experts in the field of
higher education marketing with careers as marketing academics, consultants,
and practitioners.
Benefits
The recipient of the 2016 AMA Individual Higher Education Marketer of the Year
Award will receive:




One year paid membership to the AMA
Complimentary registration to the 2016 AMA Symposium for the Marketing
of Higher Education conference (held December 4 – 7 2016; Orlando,FL),
and a travel grant of up to $1,000 (expenses covered by grant are
airfare/train/or car mileage to conference, hotel, and taxi/car service
to/from airport - original receipts must be provided for reimbursement)
Recognition and award presentation at the Tuesday, December 6th lunch
held at the 2016 AMA Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education
conference
Post-conference recognition via:
o The AMA website and other association digital promotions
o National, hometown, and business trade publicity
The recipient of the 2016 AMA Team Higher Education Marketer of the Year
Award will receive:



Complimentary registration for one team representative to the 2016 AMA
Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education conference (held
December 4-7 2016; Orlando), and a travel grant of up to $1,000
(expenses covered by grant are airfare/train/or car mileage to conference,
hotel, and taxi/car service to/from airport - original receipts must be
provided for reimbursement)
Recognition and award presentation at the Tuesday, December 6th lunch
