College of Health Sciences Hall of Fame
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 12, 2007) − The University of Kentucky College of Health
Sciences will induct three graduates into its Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at the
Hall of Fame and Scholarship dinner. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is part of
the annual College of Health Sciences homecoming events weekend. This year's
honorees are:

Janice Orienda Burdette Blythe, clinical nutrition, class of 1974. Blythe currently
serves as associate provost for advising and academic success in the Office of
Academic Services at Berea College. In 1976, she began her teaching career at
Eastern Kentucky University, receiving tenure and teaching in the dietetics
undergraduate and graduate degree program. In 1986 she accepted the position
of department chair in the Department of Child and Family Studies at Berea
College and served in that capacity for twelve years. She holds the rank of full
professor, has received several honors and recognitions for excellence in
teaching and academic advising, is published and has studied and traveled in
China, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Barbados and Grenada. She serves in several
organizations addressing food security and other needs of children and families,
and is an officer in the Richmond-Madison County Chapter of the NAACP.

Steve Gaskins, physician assistant program, class of 1987. Since graduation,
Gaskins has worked as a PA in public health, pediatrics, urgent care and
emergency medicine. He is past president of the Kentucky Academy of
Physician Assistants and was named Kentucky PA of the Year 2006. He now
serves as chairman of the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee to the
Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.

Gerald A White, Jr., radiological medical physics, class of 1978, Colorado Springs,
Colo. White is a clinical medical physicist and co-founder of Colorado Associates in
Medical Physics, with a practice at Penrose Cancer Center in Colorado Springs and St.
Mary Corwin Regional Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo. He was honored as a fellow of
the American Association of Physicists in Medicine in 2006, where he is currently
president elect. He is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and
Oncology (ASTRO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American
Brachytherapy Society, and Colorado Radiological Society, and has seven published
papers and eight abstracts.
In addition to the Hall of Fame and Scholarship recognition ceremony on the 26th
which will be held at Central Baptist Hospital with registration 5:30 – 6 p.m., the annual
homecoming weekend of events includes a distinguished lecture series with guest
speaker and former dean of the college Thomas Robinson on Saturday, Oct. 27, 3 – 4
p.m.; a tour of the UK College of Health Sciences' Charles T. Wethington Jr. Building on
Saturday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 4:30 p.m., and tailgating in the Commons Conference
Room also on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. prior to the homecoming game at 7
p.m.
