Chapter 7 Study Guide
1.
Know about the work of Morgan, Sturtevant, Mendel, Bateson, and Punnett. Know what they
studied and the conclusions.
2. The difference between autosomal and sex-linked traits.
3. Definition and examples of: Codominance, incomplete dominance, polygenic, dominance,
recessive traits, epistatic genes, and gene linkage.
4. Understand that having both uppercase and lowercase of a sex linked trait makes a female a
carrier.
5. Scientists use pedigrees and karyotypes to study patterns of inheritance.
6. Recognize a gene linkage map and how to add the unit together to get the relative location of
the gene on the chromosome.
7. A karyotype is a tool used to match up chromosome pairs using chemical stains to view the
genes.
8. Males get the sex-linked traits from their mothers.
9. Go to www.classzone.com to study and practice vocabulary and take quizzes from sections 7.17.4.
10. Study your Power notes, study guides, and worksheets on vocabulary, incomplete dominance,
codominance, pedigrees, and karyotypes.
