1984 and Propaganda Techniques
Scrapbook
Target Goal:
I can distinguish instances of fallacious reasoning, propaganda techniques, and bias.
Directions:
Focusing on propaganda techniques, create a scrapbook of 5-7 examples of propaganda
aimed at persuading the thoughts/actions of a specific group of people. The examples of
propaganda must be of political or historical content (ads, posters, cartoons,
speeches, articles, etc.) from present day or the past.
* Pop culture advertisements are not permitted and will result in no credit.
Complete the following for each example:
*Analyze the propaganda by identifying the targeted audience and the
propaganda techniques used
*Provide a quote from 1984 which exemplifies a similar propaganda
technique. Provide a brief explanation of its similarity to the
advertisement.
