Library Research: Greek Heroes Purpose: To make connections between Greek Heroes and Archetypes studied. Task: You must research a God/Goddess from Greek Mythology and take notes on how they fit one of Joseph Campbell’s archetypes with examples: -You must find at least 3 sources that give information about the character traits, victories, downfalls of your God/Goddess. -You must also research at least 3 myths that your Greek character appears in and take notes on his/her role within these myths. Citing Sources: Be sure to record full bibliography information as you take notes (author, title of article, title of book/magazine, website, page number, publisher, copyright date, date accessed on the internet (today’s date), URL address, ...) Assignment Requirements: You will create a “job posting” for a newspaper that clearly states the “job” or “archetype” that your God/Goddess fits (e.g. “Trickster Needed”, or “Now Hiring: Shadow”). In the job requirements within the ad you must advertise obvious skills of both the “archetype” as outlined by Joseph Campbell, but also the characteristics of your God/Goddess with specific details or even references to stories, to make the job posting fit him/her to a tee (a job position made for him, without stating his/her name). The ad must be written in the format of a real ad (e.g. column, short paragraphs...): look in a real newspaper to use as a model for your own; must be typed. Provide a proper Works Cited for each of your resources used (provide as a separate page to attach following your ad.
