7th Grade Science CELLULAR FUNCTIONS AND HEREDITY 1. Describe photosynthesis’ and cellular respirations’ association with each other. 2. Explain the function of the chloroplast. 3. Identify the cell structure where food is produced in plants and in some unicellular organisms. 4. Identify/describe the process in which plants use energy from the Sun to produce food and oxygen. 5. Write the chemical equation for photosynthesis. Identify the components needed for that process to occur. 6. Describe the process of cellular respiration including its needs/products and explain its importance. 7. Compare fermentation with cellular respiration. 8. Diagram and explain each part of the cell cycle. 9. Compare and contrast the processes of asexual and sexual reproduction, including the type and number of cells involved and the number of gene sets passed from parent to offspring. 10. Identify the cell structure that occur in pairs and carry hereditary information. 11. Identify the units of heredity information that are carried on chromosomes. 12. Describe the genetic information that is passed on to the daughter cells during asexual reproduction. 13. Describe the daughter cells in terms of genetic material with asexual reproduction. 14. Describe the genetic information of the offspring in sexual reproduction. 15. Compare the genetic make-up of organisms and their offspring in sexual reproduction. 16. Complete monohybrid punnett squares, including dominant traits, co-dominance and sex-linked genes. 17. Answer questions of genotype, phenotype and their ratios and probability with various monohybrid crosses.
