Chapter 7 Outline The Hebrews and Judaism pp 202-232 Summary: Students will explore the origins and founding leaders of the Hebrew people and the establishment of Judaism as a major religion. So far they have learned about polytheism and in chapter seven they will be introduced to its counterpart – monotheism. We will review stories of the emergence of Judaism beginning with Abraham and Moses thru the expansion and the establishment of Israel and then the Diaspora. We will study the Jewish texts including the Torah, the Hebrew Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls. The students will be learning this in an effort to better understand how Judaism has helped shape later cultures and influenced the world that we live in.
