History of ADD
• Known as the history of the 90’s
• It was not until 1980 that ADD was named
– Before that it was called “Morbid Defect of
Moral Control” 1902
– Then in 1922 “Post-encephalitic Behavior
Disorders”.
– Then it was called “Minimal Brain Dysfunction”
in 1960
– “Hyperkinetic Reaction” in 1968
What is ADD?
• A disorder associated with low
attention spans and hyperactivity.
Characteristics of ADD
• Inattention
– Difficulty organizing task
– Inability of staying on task
– Lacks the ability to transition
– Misplacing things
– Hard time remembering tasks

– Girls tend to talk a lot
