The entire presentation will be replayed after Mr. Senteno presents ALL the information. there are 5 main points to the hindu belief system. 1. BRAHMAN 2. POLYTHEISM (multiple gods or dieties) 3. DHARMA 4. KARMA 5.SAMSARA BRAHMAN is the name for a supreme (great) power, or a divine (heavenly) force that is greater than any god. Everything, including humans souls, is part of BRAHMAN. A soul is considered like a drop of water in the ocean. Hindu’s believe brahman is constantly creating, destroying, and recreating the universe. It is a never ending cycle. Hinduism is a POLYTHEISTIC religion. They [Hindus] believe in many different gods. Each god represents a power or quality of BRAHMAN. The most important gods are Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Brahma creates, Vishnu preserves, Shiva destroys. Hindu creation story explanation of hindu god DHARMA is an important idea in Hinduism. It stands for law, obligation (responsibility), and duty. In order to follow one’s dharma you must perform your duties and live a just and fair life. Hindu’s believe that if everyone followed the dharma of their social class, then the society would be in harmony. Hindus believe that all life is connected, so part of dharma involves avoiding harming any living thing. Nonviolence is part of Hinduism. In Hinduism, the law of KARMA governs what happens to people’s soul after death. Hindus believe that the soul has many different lives. When a person dies then their soul is reborn into a different body. This is the idea of reincarnation. Karma is made up of the good or evil that a person did in their past lives. Karma helps explain the social status of Hindus. If you were a higher class than you probably did good things in past lives. If you were a lower class than you probably did bad things. watch bad karma cartoon Hindus believe in the idea of SAMSARA. This means a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Samsara, (the cycle) ends when the soul is united with Brahman, the supreme force in the universe. It could take many lifetimes to end the cycle. The way you end the cycle is by balancing your karma with good actions, follow your dharma by behaving correctly, and worship the gods faithfully.
