• Companies are spending more money on
marketing towards Hispanics
General Mills
• In 2009, General Mills launched an advertising
campaign targeting the Hispanic population
• GM tripled its spending on Spanish-language TV
to more than $35 million

• In 2009, General Mills also launched a website
campaign called "Que Rica Vida"
• It targets Hispanic families and focuses on family
wellness and nutrition

Why companies are directing their marketing to Hispanics?
• More likely to buy brands that are advertised on TV
• Spending more on packaged goods
• Spend a greater percentage of their income than the rest
of the U.S. Population
• Hispanic spending power has increased to $700 billion
• Hispanic population is likely to continue increasing
What we learned
• The Hispanic population is growing rapidly and
marketers are recognizing their impact in
consumer spending
• Because of this growing population, more
companies are likely to expand their marketing
efforts towards the Hispanic population
