Why do the Problems of the World Exist? L.O: To explain what the consequences of global issues are for humans. To explore how we can solve these issues THE BIG QUESTIONS! Can we stop global warming? Issue: Global Warming. Issue: Disease and Poverty Location: Multiple (map) Malaria is one of the deadliest diseases on the planet affecting millions of people annually Consequences: Lack of simple mosquito nets in hospitals exposes vulnerable patients to further infection – 1 million + deaths per year in Africa BBC news Are we to blame for some disasters? Issue: Climate Change – increasing drought in some regions of the world Location:California, Spain, Australia, Portugal all experienced major fires in the last 12 months Consequences: economic + environmental loss…..? How do we end the cycle of violence in some areas? Issue: the ongoing conflict in the Middle East Location: Israel, Palestinian Territories Since 1948 there has been continuing violence in the region Consequences: thousands of lives lost, refugee crises, political tensions, rise in extremism How has this changed our world? Issue: Racism/ Discrimination Location: New Orleans 1960 Millions of people suffer discrimination because of their race, religion, gender, or orientation.
