The Five Kingdoms
Animal, Bacteria,
Fungus, Plant, and Protist
The Animal Kingdom






Have more than one cell
Cells have a nucleus
Move From Place To Place
Consumers
Digest food
Examples: snail, jellyfish,
worm, mosquito, fish, frog,
bird, human
The Bacteria Kingdom (Moneran)
 Have only one cell
 Most Bacteria do not
have a nucleus
 Most don’t make their
own food.
 They don’t move.
 Examples: salmonella,
blue-green algae
The Fungus Kingdom






Can’t move
Doesn’t contain
chloroplast
Has many cells
Feeds on living and dead
matter
Decomposers – they
break down dead matter
Examples: mold, mildew,
mushroom, yeast
The Plant Kingdom

2 main groups
• Vascular
• Non-vascular

Plants are food for
animals
They contain chloroplast
Make own food
Can’t move
Examples: grass, trees,
moss, fern, dandelion
The Protist Kingdom
Single celled
 Have a nucleus
 Some contain
Chloroplasts
 Some make own food
 Little “creatures”
floating in a drop of
pond water
 Examples: amoeba,
diatom, paramecium

We found out that to
live , all animals,
plants, fungus,
bacteria, and protists
must and have to work
together.
