Sampled Sound â sounds produced naturally. In nature, sound is a continuous wave - analog wave. But computers deal with discrete digital values, i.e. 0s and 1s. Must digitize (i.e. encode) sound to convert sound wave from continuous form to digital form: - Similar idea for images - computer cannot store the image itself so it divides it into an array of pixels, storing the colour and brightness of each separate pixel in memory.
