Assignment 11
MIDI and Audio Loops
Create a Cakewalk Sonar file that uses loops based on audio samples and MIDI
percussion grooves. Import the MIDI percussion grooves into a track that goes
to a General MIDI drum map; for fun, try putting the percussion notes in a
keyboard or guitar track.
Choose an electric bass sound, repeat it, and use Markers to transpose (move
the pitch up or down) it. Markers can be found under the Insert menu.
Save your work to the Assignments folder in the usual format, using the Bundle
option so the audio clips are included in the file (assn11yourname.cwb).
Assignment 12
MIDI Arpeggiator
An arpeggio is the notes of a chord spread out in time. Create a track using
keyboard, guitar or other sounds (bells, vibraphone, pizzicato strings) and create
some chords (at least 3 different notes sounding simultaneously sounds best).
(For the most interesting effect, the chords can be of different lengths.) Under
Process, find the “MIDI FX” item and select “cakewalk fx.” Within the dialog box,
you can control the length of notes, the direction of the arpeggio and other
parameters. Click the Help button for more details. You can also hear the effect
first before you change your actual notes by clicking the "audition" button.
Save your work to the Assignments folder in the usual format, using the ordinary
Project extension. (assn12yourname.cwp), since no audio clips are necessary for
this project.
