Created and Loved by God The Mystery of People To be a person is to be a physical-spiritual creature made in the image of God. Our ability to know and love, our concern for good and evil, and our freedom are human capacities that are Godlike. Essentials of People To be a person is to live in a relationship with other people. It is an essential part of our human nature to live in a community with others. First Nations were the first to live in communities on the land here in Moose Jaw. Together we can all learn about relationships, love, friendship and cooperation Essentials of People To be a person is to experience limitations and failures. Above all being human is to be a mystery. We can never know everything there is to know, including knowing ourselves. But we can try! Personality Test Each one of us has a unique style of being a person. When we talk about personality we are talking about a persons characteristics: Physical Intellectual Social Emotional Spiritual Personality Test Look back at your personality test. If you scored high on the odd-numbered questions you may be inclined to exhibit a introvert personality. What does this mean? If you scored high on the even-numbered questions you may be inclined to exhibit a extrovert personality. What does this mean? Exploring Your Personality Thousands of years ago Greeks believed there existed 4 types of personality. Heredity In every cell of the human body there are 46 chromosomes arranged in 23 pairs. Along each tiny chromosome lie genes, or genetic traits (the colorful bands shown here ) It is estimated that there are over 1 million genes in each cell of the body. Heredity Genes determine: Physical characteristics Hair color Skin Eye color Body build Facial features Height Blood type Heredity At the time of conception 23 chromosomes from the sperm, and 23 chromosomes from the egg come together and a new life begins. 23 (mom) + 23 (dad) = YOU! All the genetic information contained in the sperm and egg are passed on to you Heredity Some traits are stronger than others and are more likely to appear when chromosomes come together. For example, the gene for brown eyes is stronger than the gene for blue eyes. This did not mean I was going to automatically become a teacher, nor did it mean I was going to become a good hockey player. Talents and skills depend on a variety of factors.
