MULTILAYER CERAMIC CHIP CAPACITORS :
New – Expanded Products
NMC-L Series:
Low ESR NPO Ceramic Chip Capacitors
 0402, 0603, 0805
 O.5 ~ 150pF
 Low ESR at high frequency
Ultra-Stable Ceramic Chip Capacitors suit Bluetooth Applications
NIC, one of the leading names in the passive components market, has added a new range of
low ESR multilayer ceramic chip capacitors to its portfolio of products. With ESR as low as 0.30 ohm
for capacitance values of between 22pF and 47pF at 500MHz, the NMC-L series is ideally suited to
high speed, high frequency applications such as those found in Bluetooth products. Manufactured
using ultra stable, low loss NPO/COG dielectric, the devices are available with values ranging from
0.5pF to 100pF. Both 50V dc and 100V dc rated parts are available. A broad operating temperature
range of –55....C to +125....C makes them suitable for use in most environments. Capacitance
stability is also very high with a figure of 0±30ppm/°C quoted across the temperature range. Many
wireless and Bluetooth designs are housed in extremely small enclosures. The NMC-L range is offered
in both 0603 and 0805 case sizes making placement easy in such applications where printed circuit
boards can be extremely densely populated. An even smaller 0402 version is currently in
development. Nickel barrier terminations and stringent quality controls in the manufacturing process
mean that NMC-L ceramic chip capacitors have excellent mechanical strength. This is particularly
important in portable communications applications where equipment has to meet tough vibration and
drop test specifications. Supplied in tape and reel packaging, the NMC-L range is compatible with both
re-flow and flow soldering processes.

» Voltage ratings form 4 ~ 25VDC.
» Case sizes (DxL) include 6.3mm x 6.3mm, 8mm x 7mm and 10mmx 8mm.
NIC Components continues to address the growing needs for low ESR capacitors with the
release of the NSPZ series of surface mount (SMT) solid polymer aluminum electrolytic
capacitors. NSPZ series features:
 Ultra-low ESR and impedance (as low as 0.025ohm)
 High ripple current ratings (up to 2.5Arms; +105ºC/100KHz)
 Ideally suited for lower voltage - high current power management applications, including
dc-dc converters and switchers.
Rated for operation at temperatures between -55 ~ +105ºC and are compatible with reflow
soldering processes. The devices are supplied in tape-and-reel packaging for use with
automated pick-and-place manufacturing systems.

NSPE Series
Low ESR Hybrid Electrolyte Electrolytic Capacitors in SMT V-Chip
Featuring the low ESR characteristics of solid electrolyte types, but at lower cost, NIC's new
hybrid (solid -liquid electrolyte) NSPE series of surface mount (SMT) aluminum electrolytic
capacitors provide cost effective solution for power management applications. NSPE
series uses combination solid polymer and liquid electrolyte toreduce the ESR characteristic
and increase the ripple currentrating. NSPE series features low ESR and impedance (as low as
0.023ohm) with high ripple current ratings (up to 2.18Arms;+105ºC/100KHz).
Available in:
» Capacitance values from22uF ~ 820uF (±20% capacitance tolerance)
» Voltage ratings form 4 ~ 16VDC.
» Case sizes (DxL) include 6.3mm x 6.3mm, 8mm x 10.8mm and 10mm x 10.8mm.
Ideally suited for lower voltage - high current power management applications, including
power supplies, dc-dc converters and switchers. Rated for operation at temperatures between
-55 ~ +105ºC and are compatible with reflow soldering processes. The devices are supplied
in tape-and-reel packaging for use with automated pick-and-place manufacturing systems.
Pricing from $0.25 ~ $0.63 each in production quantities. Lead time: 8 ~ 10weeks

Niobium Electrolytic Capacitors
Niobium is one of the alternatives being considered to replace tantalum in
capacitors - as tantalum becomes less available and human rights issues are
raised about some of its African sources. Estimates, niobium is over 100 times
more plentiful than tantalum. The construction is exactly the same tantalum
conductive polymer capacitors (NIC NTP Series). It is anticipated that in the
future, niobium capacitors will be used for high-capacity devices (about
1000µF), which are too costly to produce using tantalum.
