Digestive System Diagram
The Mouth
The digestive system
starts in the mouth.
 There are four kinds
of teeth, incisors
canines, premolars,
and molars.
 After food is
chomped up it enters
the esophagus.

The Esophagus


The Esophagus is a
ten inch long muscle
connecting the mouth
and stomach.
It uses peristaltic
movement which is
squeezing down.


The rumbling in your
stomach is actually
peristaltic movement.
The next step is the
stomach.
The Stomach
The stomach is one of
the main parts of the
digestive system.
 It uses gastric juices
to turn the food into a
liquid.
 Then the food enters
the small intestine.

Small Intestine



The small intestine
puts food into the
blood.
When food goes into
it, juices from the liver
and pancreas digest
the food.
The small intestine is
about 20 feet long.
Large Intestine
Liquids left over from stomach are
completely removed here
 Its then called well lets just say “number
2”
 The large intestine is about 5 feet long
 It then goes through the rectum and
comes out of the anus goes into 

Pancreas
makes enzymes which
break down food
 Enzymes in intestines
break down protein
into amino acids and
carbohydrates into
simple sugars usually
glucose

Liver
makes bile, breaks
down fat in the small
intestine
 Help break up globs
of fat so enzymes in
the small intestine
can convert fat
molecules into fatty
acids and glycerol

