ISABEL FÈLIX
Born in Maó (Menorca), she graduated in Piano and Chamber Music with honors at the
Conservatori Superior Municipal de Barcelona -where she studied with Miquel Farré-. Master
degree in Musicology and Music Education at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, having
conducted a research on the composer Margarida Orfila. She also graduated in Pharmacy at
Universitat de Barcelona.
Furthering her specialized training in Piano and Chamber Music, she studied with Ferenc Rados
at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares and continued her piano studies with John Bingham in
London. She later became interested in the interpretation following historical criteria, studied
Harpsichord and Fortepiano with Albert Romaní and Neal Peres da Costa. A pronounced
influence was that of Paul Badura-Skoda with whom she studied Piano and Fortepiano in Paris
and Vienna.
Her performing career develops as a pianist, fortepianist and harpsichordist on projects ranging
from early music to contemporary, performing throughout Europe as a soloist and in chamber
ensembles as the duo with the baroque violinist Alba Roca, the show “Phenomena Clave” with
meteorologist Alfred Rodríguez Picó and ensembles L'OBAC, Artaria, BCN 216, etc. The
specialized reviews highlights the great subtlety, sensitivity and communication skills in her
performances.
Her discography includes “A l'ombra del piano” (Columna Música, 2010), performing concerts
for fortepiano and orchestra by Haydn, Mozart and Schubert with OCIM conducted by Andrew
Watkinson; “Los Otros Contemporáneos II” (2012), performing songs by Miquel Ortega with
baritone Joan Martín-Royo and mezzo-soprano Inés Moraleda; and recently “Barcelona Belle
Époque” (Solfa Recordings, 2015), performing the complete works for violin and piano by
Mompou, Blancafort, Massià and Orfila with violinist Laura Gaya.
Founding member of the European Association Fortepiano, she is regularly invited to teach
courses in piano, fortepiano and chamber music.
Since 2006 she is Professor of Repertoire with Piano (Strings) of the Conservatori Superior de
Música de les Illes Balears.
