TOO TIGHT | Expert describes muscle weakness SHAPEWEAR can make you look great in that favourite dress, but are you risking your health wearing such garments? Chiropractors’ Association of Australia (NSW) president Dr Joseph Ierano is concerned about the ramifications of wearing shapewear. “Wearing such garments can encourage muscles to stop doing their job,” he said. “Muscles should be encouraged to work, not remain ‘lazy’.” According to Dr Ierano, prolonged use of shapewear may cause muscle ing guidelines: 1. Ensure you are wearing the right size and it’s not inhibiting areas that need to move. It should not be excessively tight. 2. Try to wear shapewear on special occasions. 3. Do not exercise or overexert yourself for long periods while wearing shapewear as it can restrict circulation. 4.
