New Years Resolutions
Instructions: Print two copies of this page. First, ask your child to tell you the different parts of speech in the prompt. Fill in their answers. When you
are finished, read aloud for some laughs. Then, fill in the blanks on a fresh page with your child to create some resolutions for the New Year.
Parts of Speech:
An adjective describes
something or someone.
Funny, smooth, sharp, and
short are all adjectives.
An adverb tells how
something is done. It usually
ends in “ly” and modifies a
verb. Quickly, carefully, and
slowly are all adverbs.
A noun is a person, place, or
thing. House, mouth, and
boots are all nouns.
A verb is an action word.
Jump, swim, and walk are all
verbs. The past tense of those
verbs are jumped, swam, and
walked.
