Study Guide: You should study the sheets I have given you as well as this. You will also have to answer
questions in complete sentences.
We have covered nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Give a quick definition and an
example of each one.
Noun: Person, place, thing or idea. (Also Proper) . EXAMPLES: Book, dogs, farm, buildings, school,
freedom… Proper: Specific: Union Academy
Pronoun: A word used in place of a noun. Examples: she, he, it, they, them, we, us, him, our, her
Verb: Action or a state of being. AM IS ARE WAS WERE BE BEEN BEING. May Be Mr. Being Should Have
Had a Will. Would, could, can, shall… ran, ate, gave…
Adjective: Describes or modifies a noun. Blue jacket; Big tree. Answers the questions: What kind,
which one, how much or how many. (We’re talking about size like tiny; opinion like wise; feelings like
happy, sad or otherwise, age like antique; color like brown…
Adverb: Modifies a verb, adjective or another adverb. LY words… ran quickly. He was very happy.
Answers: WHEN, WHERE, HOW.
