MassARRAY® System, 24-Well Format
ACCELERATING
RESEARCH
Scalable
to meet
your needs
MassARRAY® System
ACCURATE. FLEXIBLE. RAPID.
A targeted genomic analysis platform at your fingertips
The MassARRAY® System offers a highly robust and accurate alternative for targeted genotyping,
mutation analysis, and NGS validation. A new scaled-down version, the 24-well format, provides an
affordable entry point for testing laboratories to gain access to a system that provides:
A robust platform for nucleic acid detection
by molecular mass.
KEY APPLICATIONS
FOR GENOMIC TESTING
Flexible assay and sample format.
• Genotyping
A rapid, automated assay design tool—take control
and quickly add or remove mutations and markers
of interest.
• Somatic mutation profiling
A highly sensitive method for as low as 0.1% allele
frequency—ideal for heterogeneous tumor samples
as well as circulating cell-free and plasma DNA.
• Methylation analysis
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
• Ultrasensitive somatic
mutation profiling
• QGE and copy number
variant analysis
THE MASSARRAY SYSTEM—SCALABLE TO MEET YOUR NEEDS
The 24-well format is optimal for genomic testing labs that
want to take advantage of a highly sensitive, accurate
platform but may have a limited number of tests or samples.
The 24-well format offers a cost-effective entry point.
Ultimately, certain labs may need the flexibility to run
different tests and sample batches. The MassARRAY System
can be upgraded to offer all three formats (24/96/384) to
optimize laboratory operations and turnaround time.

Sample Number
With the addition of the 24-well format, the MassARRAY
System can now run as few as 48 samples against a singlewell assay, and can still be scaled up to 96- or 384-well
formats should your sample or assay throughput demands
increase.

All MassARRAY Systems can accommodate two chips per run,
with up to six chips per day. The table depicts the number of
samples tested per run for each format with a 2-chip run.
THE MASSARRAY SYSTEM, 24-WELL FORMAT PROVIDES:
• Benchtop mass spectrometer for highly accurate,
sensitive analysis of nucleic acids.
• Simplified workflow with manual dispensation.
• Integrated camera for sample positioning and
barcode reading.
• Upgradable to 96- and/or 384-well format.

APPLICATIONS
The MassARRAY System is a flexible platform that allows
you to perform a variety of DNA analysis applications.
The following research-use-only applications are available.
• OncoFOCUS™ Panel: Validate tumor samples using
a highly focused panel for BRAF, EGFR, KRAS, and
NRAS mutation analysis.
GENOTYPING
• LungCarta® Panel: Profile lung adenocarcinoma
samples for disease-specific signatures.
The MassARRAY System is widely used for fine mapping
and validation of large-scale genome discovery studies,
as well as development of routine genetic tests for
applications such as human sample identification and
inherited disease profiling.
MassARRAY uses simple and accurate iPLEX® primer
extension chemistry and state-of-the-art MALDI-TOF mass
spectrometry to quickly and cost-effectively characterize
genotypes with high accuracy and reproducibility.
iPLEX assays have been used in hundreds of published
studies. Design your own assays with our online Assay
Design Suite software, or order a pre-defined panel:
• iPLEX® Pro Sample ID Panel: Screen DNA extracted
from FFPE samples, cell lines, and/or tissues in order to
identify sample mismatch, sample duplication, and/or
sample identification, and to quantify input DNA prior
to further genotyping assays.
• iPLEX® ADME PGx Pro Panel: Screen for genetic
variations that may influence absorption, distribution,
metabolism, and excretion of drugs and compounds.
The panel covers 191 of the most biologically-relevant
pharmacogenetic ADME markers in 36 genes.
• Hemo ID™ Blood Group Genotyping Panel:
Type 101 antigens in 16 blood group systems,
and 23 platelet and neutrophil antigens.
SOMATIC MUTATION PROFILING
Agena Bioscience’s family of cancer research panels,
powered by iPLEX chemistry, can help you accelerate
translational and clinical research studies.
• OncoCarta™ Panel: Confirm mutation profiles
in tumor samples across 19 key oncogenes.
• LungFUSION™ AbA Panel: Screen for ALK, RET,
and ROS1 translocations in non-small cell lung
cancer tumors.
You can also design your own custom assays using our
online Assay Design Suite.
ULTRASENSITIVE SOMATIC MUTATION PROFILING
Agena Bioscience’s new UltraSEEK™ chemistry provides
a targeted, multiplexed method for detecting rare events,
increasing the sensitivity to less than 1% and as low as 0.1%.
Design your own assays with our online Assay Design Suite
software, or order a pre-defined panel.
• UltraSEEK™ Oncogene Panel: Detect 26 well-known
mutations in complex tumor and circulating plasma
samples at ≤ 1% frequency.
METHYLATION ANALYSIS
MassARRAY EpiTYPER® for quantitative DNA methylation
analysis uses base-specific enzymatic cleavage. EpiTYPER
is scalable and allows you to analyze multiple CpGs on a
single amplicon without compromising accuracy, sensitivity,
or reproducibility. The EpiTYPER software provides
convenient solutions for data analysis and export.
QUANTITATIVE GENE EXPRESSION (QGE)
AND COPY NUMBER VARIANT ANALYSIS
The MassARRAY System can measure expression of
multiple gene targets accurately and cost-effectively. Up
to 24 targets can be assayed in a single reaction - ideal
for routine testing where gene expression signatures serve
to provide meaningful biological relevance.
