Description: Wellspring Biosciences is discovering and developing small molecule drugs that
target signal transduction networks for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. Through
partnerships with academic and industry experts, we are translating chemical and biological
insights into highly targeted, novel drugs. Our team has a proven track record of drug discovery
and development, having played pivotal roles in the discovery of clinical-stage compounds for the
treatment of cancer and immune-mediated inflammatory diseases at Intellikine.
We are currently seeking a Research Associate /Associate Scientist to join our experienced drug
development team in San Diego. This is a hands-on position within DMPK group with
responsibility to perform in vitro and in vivo ADME/PK studies to support small molecule drug
discovery projects. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in aspects of analytical
chemistry, LC-MS/MS based bioanalysis and ADME/PK with relevant industrial experience. A
strong team player who enjoys scientific discovery and has the ability to communicate and
collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment is essential.
Responsibilities:
 Independently develop bioanalytical methods and analyze PK/PD biological samples
(various matrices) using quantitative LC-MS/MS assays
 Maintain one LC-MS/MS system (Agilent) and independently troubleshoot when needed
 Independently perform variety of in vitro ADME experiments such as solubility, metabolic
stability using different biological matrices, protein binding, CYP inhibition and
phenotyping, RBC partitioning, GSH reactivity assay.
 Perform pharmacokinetic analysis using WinNonlin Phoenix
 Perform API purity and dose formulation analysis using HPLC-UV to support CMC and in
vivo studies
 Maintain excellent written and oral communication with supervisors, peers, and team
members at all times
 Maintain proper documentation, such as laboratory notebooks and/or computer files
Requirements
 MS with 2+ years or BS with 5+ years industrial (pharmaceutical/biotech) experience in
ADME and bioanalysis scientific discipline
 Hands-on experience on LC-MS/MS and automated liquid handlers.
 Ability to set up, validate and conduct new DMPK assays
 Strong knowledge of the principles of drug metabolism, drug-drug interactions, and
pharmacokinetics
 Hands-on experience in pharmacokinetic analysis using WInNonlin Phoenix.
 Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ChemDraw, Prism, DB managers.
