PLANT CARE INFORMATION
Twin-flowered Agave
Agave geminiflora
DESCRIPTION: The beautiful yellow flowers of this agave are tinged in red and are born in
pairs giving this unique agave its common name. The usually solitary rosette is comprised of
very narrow, and tightly set linear leaves setting it apart from most agaves. This species is a midelevation plant and occurs in the oak zone in the Mexican state of Nayarit at elevations between
3000 – 4000 ft. It tops out at about 2-3 ft. tall.
RECOMMENDED USE: Will do well in container with plenty of room or as accent in
landscape
CULTURE:
Hardiness: It is hardy to about 25-30o
Sun tolerance: Best in light shade with morning sun.
Watering and feeding: In the desert it grows mainly in the mild weather of spring and
fall, when it should be watered about once every week or two. In summer water
only enough to keep leaves from shrivelling. Fertilize once each in spring and fall.
Soil requirements: Use a fast draining potting soil for containers.
Pruning: None needed
