This shrub is one that is not well known and is very similar to yellow
flowering brooms. Bright yellow pea like flowers are abundant on
this green stemmed, low growing shrub. It is spiky and twiggy in texture with relatively small leaves. It produces a seed pod that is
about 1/2” to 3/4” long.
This tough plant prefers hot sunny locations with relatively infertile
soils. It will tolerate both acidic and alkaline soils and seems to be
adaptable to urban conditions. It can be pruned after its initial
blooming. You will find that it will continue to bloom sporadically
through the growing season.
