Mr. Maynard’s Science
The layer that we live on is called the
lithosphere. The lithosphere is composed
of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary
rocks .It is made up of two types of crust:
oceanic crust , and continental crust.

The next layer is below the lithosphere. It
is called the mantle. The Mantle is made of
silicate rocks rich in iron and magnesium.

The next layer, below the mantle is the
outer core. The outer core is a liquid
molten core of nickel and iron.
Last there’s the inner core, a solid metal
core made up of nickle and iron. This is
always turning and gives earth it's
magnetic field. (See movie “The Core”)
