Robobug Components
Resistor
Resistors determine the flow of current in an electrical circuit. Where there is high resistance in a circuit the flow of current is small, where the resistance is low the flow of current is large. Resistance, voltage and current are connected in an electrical circuit. Light Dependent Resistor (LDR)
LDRs or Light Dependent Resistors are very useful especially in light/dark sensor circuits. Normally the resistance of an LDR is very high, sometimes as high as 1000 000 ohms, but when they are illuminated with light resistance drops dramatically. Transistor
The relay is a type of switch. It is the physical link between two circuits. The first circuit on the left hand side is the one with the two push to make switches. The second circuit is on the right and has the motor. Variable Resistor (Trim Pot)
A variable resistor is a potentiometer
with only two connecting wires instead of
three. However, although the actual
component is the same, it does a very
different job. The pot allows us to control
the potential passed through a circuit. Diode
A diode is a specialized electronic
component with two electrodes called the
anode and the cathode. Most diodes are
made with semiconductor materials such
as silicon, germanium, or selenium. Switch
a device for making and breaking the
connection in an electric circuit. PCB
A printed circuit board, or PC board,
or PCB, is a non-conductive material with
conductive lines printed or etched.
Electronic components are mounted on
the board and the traces connect the
components together to form a working
circuit or assembly. Motor
a machine, especially one powered by
electricity or internal combustion, that
supplies motive power for a vehicle or for
